Great place to stay in sale easy to walk to everything great rooms breakfast is really great continental free with your room.Parking is a bit of a pain if you come back after 8pm at night you may have to park on the road which is a shame
The bed was super comfy, the staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was lovely. All up a very pleasant stay. I would stay again and recommend to friends.
This was our second stay at Matador and likely place of choice now as we plan to visit family on a regular basis. Room's on both occasions have been very clean, beds comfortable and staff accommodating. Breakfast a nice touch. Good location.
We stayed for 1 night on the 29th of October. It was a small little room and was pretty decent. The only problem was the wifi would not connect to the tv. So we could not watch Netflix. The Logan TV might need an update or it's outdated? It doesn't have any automatic scanning for Wi-Fi. You have to type the name automatically and that does not even work. Fix the wi-fi with the tvs and this will be a 5-star review!
Very comfortable motel right in the centre of town at the highway roundabout. Rooms refurbished.
Very comfortable room. Complimentary continental breakfast included. Staff very friendly. Only complaint was the thin walls as I could hear the people above me stomping around and the couple next door having a loud argument late into the night.
Ok place to stay. Rooms were clean and well serviced. Nothing exceptional. Not particularly well insulated from outside noises. Basic continental breakfast included with Corporate Nespresso machine.
Stayed for 3 nights in October 2023 and could not fault anything. Nice people. Good sized rooms for 1 Adult and 2 kids.Great Breakfast included in the price.Will definitely stay again when the time comes.

I've stayed at the Matador a few times now, and been very happy with it. I had a late arrival, and they'd put the heater on for me so that I didn't arrive to a freezing cold room. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was good.
we were really comfortable with the room were in where nice and peaceful, very clean and the breakfast was lovely. when i booked the room for four nights the girl on the phone said she couldnt guarantee room 10 for the four nights as she said "people might want to stay longer" but when i spoke to Robyn was very polite and helpful and said that the we wouldnt more which we appreciated that, but overall was a pleasant stay even the weather was perfect. Billie in the breakfast area was helpful and a delight to talk to.
Great beds clean and good vibe .felt like a bit of a bali room .There was 4 of us and the high ceilings gave the room spaceGood price .Yes stay here its fine
My stay was enjoyable. Staff helpful and friendly. Room was clean spacious but dated,the bathroom was modern and clean. Location was perfect for me especially across the road from that lovely bistro Point of Sale. The real highlight at the motel was the lovely complementary continental breakfast. I would stay there again.
Great location stayed the weekend in a refurbished room , including breakfast, it was excellent, room was big, very clean and comfortable, we loved it .Staff were very helpful.

Hola,The staff were professional, friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable.The apartment was spacious, clean, comfy, and value for money. The lounge area had sofa bed, coffee table, and dining table.The mini kitchen had microwave, mini fridge, ample crockery, cutlery, and cleaning products for if you're having a longer stay.The apartment was very suitable for my one to one meetings, at the dining table, because the bedroom was hidden behind a sliding door, and entry to the bathroom was off the main area of the apartment. These are key aspects in apartment and room design that I look for when travelling for business.Bedroom was excellent with comfortable bed and good sized work desk.Bathroom had eco friendly hair and personal products in the clean, well appointed, renovated space.Breakfast was a generous and fabulous continental breakfast buffet.Statements in other reviews of the decor being dated aren't appreciating the cultural theme of the place. After all, it's called "The Matador," not "The Boganor."Location is very central in Sale. A short walk to most amenities.Thoroughly recommend, and will return, Muchas Gracias
Bathrooms are nice and updated, loved the eco friendly amenities. Rooms are a little dated. And some mould on the bathroom ceiling. Didn’t love the big opening above the showers to let the moisture out I assume but resulted in a very noisy stay as it opened up into the carpark and all the other rooms doors, having kids screaming and late comers at night making noise and slamming doors and no way to shut the opening so not great if you’re looking for a quiet place to stay. But otherwise great service, breakfast was great, was neat clean and tidy.

Room was clean and spacious, nice touch was eco friendly toiletries, we asked to arrive a bit early to change for a funeral was no issue, staff were friendly and efficient, and I had probably the best night’s sleep I had had for a long time. Complimentary breakfast was great thanks.Would recommend The Mstador without hesitation
Well located to CBD. Friendly helpful staff. Very comfortable bed, our room had a fully renovated bathroom and was all very clean. Tea, coffee biscuits and a complimentary chocolate provided. Only criticism the front door was a little tricky to open but a very pleasant stay at a good price.
Deluxe rooms have been upgraded and very comfortable. Full range of tea/coffee making facilities plus a couple of free chocies! Very good free continental breakfast and staff very friendly.
Wonderful experience right from the very start. It began straight away with a warm and friendly greeting at reception. The room was clean and comfortable and left with a friendly farewell. We'll definitely come back 🙂
Reception staff friendly and informative. Bed and room clean. Cleaner does need to look up and remove cobwebs. Room decor horribly dated. Cutlery and dishes in a shallow, difficult to open draw! Had to boil jug in either an insecure power outlet on bathroom wall or bedside cabinet. I know the AHG group are trying to be eco friendly with large containers of bathroom products but as they cannot guarantee that products have not been tampered with or sanitary I think they should rethink their product choice. Woken by noisy patrons who made it difficult to sleep soundly. Okay if price is paramount.
Nice hotel, in the process of a refresh. On arrival got a room upgrade which was very nice, rooms feel fresh and good quality. Good location right next to the main street of Sale. Included breakfast is great as well. Service was great.
Fantastic! Great position in town, rooms were very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Lovely hot shower. Great breakfast included - with coffee machine which made very good coffees. The Matador pay attention to ‘the little things’ and it shows. Would stay again in a heartbeat!
Location was very convenient and within walking distance of town centre, Botanical Gardens, Lakes, pubs and restaurants.Clean rooms. Fresh bathroom.Continental breakfast was a bonus.Landscaping would really improve the aesthetics of the Matador.Would return.Thank you 😊
Large rooms a little dated.Real highlight was the included breakfast.In a proper dining room with a tremendous range of constantly replaced items. While listed as continental anyone who complained would need to seriously consider their daily food intake volumes.Parking near roomsOpposite the theatre complex.Shopping nearby.Pool at complex not heated.Friendly service.
Staff were pleasant and efficient. Continental Breakfast was included in the tariff and was ideal. Like most of Motels in regional cities, the rooms are of an older style however the room was clean and well serviced. Located near the Port of Sale and just off the main highway, it was a pleasant walk to the Gallery and nearby cafes. We would choose this Motel again.
Older hotel but well maintained and recently lightly refurbished. Has a genuine Spanish feeling and is very charming. Comfortable beds and great amenities in the bathroom. The breakfast is included and is phenomenal. Generous, fresh and top quality ingredients. The staff from the welcoming smiles from the owners and their new receptionist to the beautiful ladies at breakfast. Their personalities made my stay. I’ll be back!!
Really great facilities here - Rooms are just spacious enough, new bathrooms with full shampoo and conditioner bottles!Continental breakfast was a huge selection, and the staff were pretty great too.Staying here more often me thinks! 😊
The decor was a little dated however our room was clean, tidy and spacious and for the price was very good value. It only just felt short of a 5 ratingThe husband and wife team who have recently taken over management are very helpful and friendly.The complimentary breakfast was a bonus.I won't hesitate to stay here again
It is the best place for a retreat. The staff appeared very welcoming, the room is a perfect place to retire after a full day spent with friends and family. Breakfast is scrumptious and staff always smiling and helpful. Thank you for giving us a home for the four nights we stayed at your place. Would love to return one day!
We had a great time at the Matador Hotel. The owners and staff were so warm and caring which made it a great experience. The owners making sure the breakfast was served well made it a real home-like experience in the mornings. Given not many motels serve breakfast which made it a great experience to have breakfast catered for .The pool was nice and warm and walking distance from the lake. Highly recommend.
Wonderful visit.Owners take pride in providing a clean , professional and comfortable service. The pool was lovely and warm and breakfast delicious. The vibe from excellent customer service was comparable to a 5 star service hotel.Not hotels fault, but can be a small wait on brekky at peak times because some guests think it is ok to stay for 2 hours whilst other guests wait.
The Matador here on sale is a very good place to be. I'm here for work, and the motel is nicely close to the local amenities, they have charge-back available for a variety of eateries. The room is tidy nicely set out a the bed quite comfortable. It's also the first ti E I've seen a card with the name of the person who has cleaned the room. To me it lends itself to a higher level of responsibility. There is also a microwave in the room as well. The member of staff I spoke with on arrival was very helpful and friendly as well.
Really happy with helping out to late night check in for the hotel as we were coming from a long drive, the staff member (craig) help me via text even before the check in there, which was really helpfull. The room was newly renovated & pretty cleaned, with the spacious bathroom great service at the cheapest price. I will definitely stay there for my next visit in the sale. Highly recommended. Thank you guys

We stayed in a room on the 2nd floor, so our room had lovely exposed beams and a little balcony. The rooms are lovely and clean, air con worked well. The bathroom was clean and looked like it had recently been renovated. Included in the room was a continental breakfast which was filling and tasty.One downside, not enough onsite parking, we had to park out on the road.
Recently stayed here for 2 weeks in room 35, a renovated apartment. Service was amazing! The housekeeping ladies every morning were so sweet, making sure I was happy with everything. Aircon was super efficient. Breakfast had everything you could ever want. Would highly recommend to anyone going to Sale or surrounding areas.
Great value! Room was clean and well decorated, bed was comfy (plus they are currently putting in new mattresses) everything was hassle free. Breakfast was nice better than expected for a continental. The guy on reception was always in a good mood.
Great place to stay. We stayed here on two occasions on our way through from Narooma. If you want a better rate, ring through and book the room. Breakfast included. Great value. Would recommend to all. Suggest asking for a renovated room when booking.
Great opportunity to stay in an old 70's Spanish inspired motel. Most of these old places are a sad experience but they have done a really nice job of a subtle Reno without killing the original building. Clean and light with good comfy beds and a genuinely enjoyable breakfast included. Won't have think about where to stay when visiting Sale in the future. The matador is a no brainer!

The Matador is convenient being on the fringe of Sale town centre, entry on a side street of the main thoroughfare through town and therefore close to almost anything that you may need including a number of different types of food & beverage venues.This motel was built in the 70’s, and has an interesting history, just ask Craig, the proud manager, it is worth asking. You will find Craig always has a smile and a great helpful attitude.The job of modernising the rooms has been done very well, whilst retaining the obvious character of the rather impressive building.Very comfortable king size bed, a couple of chairs and a table, as well as a 40” TV, a microwave, and a well finished bathroom with a nice shower are some of the room’s upgraded mods that have been done.A rather inclusive continental breakfast is included in the large light and airy dining room. Tip:- the mini blueberry muffins and yogurt and nuts in a small glass are a treat.Definitely Highly Recommended
An older building currently being renovated. Rooms were very tastefully renovated and the location and service was excellent. Would stay again, in fact we did, twice in the same week. Once on the way up to NSW and again on the way back.
Nice motel well situated on the corner - lovely bed but I think the doors on the rooms could do with some work, not the easiest to open and very noisey. Breakfast was nice with a good variety thanks again
Good location across the road from the Port of Sale. Warm welcome and comfortable, clean, ground floor room with up-to-date fittings.And excellent breakfast included. A very enjoyable stay. A very minor quibble was no electric blanket to warm cold sheets on a winter's night.
Pretty good. Basic motel, but bed, shower good. Breakfast is simple cereal,toast and fruit, but I lile it a simple "sleep, breakfast and travel" affair. Onsite parking good. Nice and quiet. Recommended.
Built in the 70s this Motel has had many names. What do you do with a 70s Spanish themed Motel in 2016. The new owners have done one of the best mash up of old and new I have seen. Repainting original fixtures then mixing in new furnishings, beds, side tables, lamps and fully rebuilt bathrooms. My room was 33, renovated King bed. Comfortable, stylish and large. The vaulted ceiling makes the room feel enormous. Complementary continental breakfast includes coffee machine, selection of teas and juice, cereals, fruit, cold meats, Pastries and a selection of bread and conserves. Cross the road and a short walk takes you to the shopping precinct. Very quiet rooms and very clean. All in all great Motel with attentive friendly staff.
Service by Craig the owner was very personal and accurate . Our room ,number 8, was very clean and facilitated for the price we paid. Well done.👌👌

I stayed in a ground floor corporate suite for 3 nights whilst I was in town for work. Lovely renovated room with a comfy, full sized king bed with well thought out decor and furnishings and colour scheme. Ceiling to floor block-out curtains to allow for sleep-ins after working late. The shower had a lovely oversize head, and the water was hot and plentiful. There was a kettle, toaster microwave and cutlery & crockery provided, and much appreciated.The few things that annoyed me with this room were the bathroom door not closing properly, I used some folded cardboard to keep it shut, and the bathroom exhaust fan was super loud. I could also hear the neighbors talking through the walls, luckily they weren't excessively noisy.
Room very comfortable. Breakfast was included and although not extensive was perfectly adequate. Owners friendly and helpful. Lighting in our room was poor and there was a faulty cistern winch the owners promised to fix.
Value for money accommodation. The rooms are comfortable with plenty of space and equipped with everything you need. The staff are very friendly and a free continental style breakfast and cereal is provided. The Matador is situated in the middle of town so is conveniently located near the high street shops. Currently the hotel rooms are being renovated. Renovated rooms are $143 and non-renovated rooms $123. Nothing wrong with the non-ronovated rooms, the beds are new just new coat of paint hasn’t been applied yet.
We were upgraded to a King room which was fantastic. Bed was super comfortable. Room was modern, spotlessly clean and very well appointed. Ditto the bathroom. Breakfast was great - a generous buffet with proper coffee. This is one of the nicest motels I have stayed in and was very reasonably priced.
I stayed for a business trip and booked into one for the newly renovated rooms. The room was large, bed comfy and linen crisp and good quality. The bathroom was also big and well renovated. The room (21) was quiet and the air conditioner worked a treat keeping the room nice and cool during the hot two days I was there. Very good location in town. Breakfast was included but I didn't have any so can not comment there. Service was excellent. Great place to stay.
We stayed in a wonderfully refurbished king bedroom on the first (upper) floor. The room has been refurbished with quality fittings and furnishings. The bed was extremely comfortable with crisp clean cotton sheets and the thermostatic shower was wonderful to use with high water pressure. The continental breakfast was a perfect start to the day, all supported by very happy and and very helpful staff. A perfect place to stay. Very highly recommended.
Excellent stay here. The newly refurbished room was to a high standard. The room was very big and equipped with everything you could need. Bed was comfy and the shower really good. Location good as well. Cheery staff on reception who were very helpful. Could not fault it.
Great Hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious. We booked direct and received a great continental breakfast. It's close to the shops and has a lovely pool to cool off in. The staff are very friendly and catered to all our needs.
We weren't expecting much when we booked but the reviews were good... and turns out they were accurate!The place is clean, friendly service, extremely good attention to detail (they keep whiskey glasses in the fridge!), and the fact that the whole place has a consistent theme (of a Matador of course) and matching interior and exterior really helped make the place feel well put together.I will definitely be staying here again!Also the hot water ran beautifully, even when multiple people were using it (this is definitely something I look out for).
It was really good. The weather was cold when we were there the air con worked quickly to warm the room. Shower was great. The motel is close to town, a nice walk for coffee or shopping. The free continental breakfast was perfect for us.The room was very clean. There is nothing I can suggest for them to improve.

Well what a delight. We had our elderley mother with us and they upgraded us to a family suite with no extra charge. Chris and staff were charming and accommodating. It has been renovated sympathetically to its era which we loved. Rooms were a joy, super clean and comfortable, and breakfast in the morning catered to all tastes. We would recommend over and over again.
It was wonderful for a small town motel. Beautiful room, free bottle of water and chocolates in my room, modern bathroom and set to a comfortable temperature before I arrived. Continental breakfast was quite nice, but not very accommodating of dietary requirements. Staff were friendly and made excellent restaurant tips. Will happily return if I'm ever in Sale again.
1st time staying here. Our room is on the ground floor. The doors were open making the room feel quite fresh on arrival. There was also a sign letting us know who had cleaned the room.On returning later that night, the room smelt a bit musty when we walked in. The blaconnette looks over a school. Unfortunately, there are only blackout curtains, no lace, to stop people from looking in so these had to be pulled to give us privacy.The bed was awesome & we slept like we would at home.The complimentary continental breakfast was very nice.Would stay here again when we cone to Sale.

We were passing through and more than comfortable for what we needed. Recommended for good value. Easy walk to shops and restaurants. Decent, honest, friendly.
